ABOUT THIS SERVICE

The Kitchen Your Home Deserves

A kitchen renovation is the most scrutinized project in any home — it affects how you cook, how you entertain, and how buyers value the house. Matos Construction designs and builds high-end kitchen remodels across Northern Virginia and Maryland, working with homeowners in McLean, Bethesda, Great Falls, Chevy Chase, and Potomac who want the work done right the first time.

Leo Matos leads every kitchen project personally — from the initial site walk through final punch list. We handle custom cabinetry, finish carpentry, tile, and coordination of licensed plumbing and electrical subcontractors. You get one point of contact instead of managing four separate contractors, and the finish quality reflects that.

OUR PROCESS

How a Kitchen Renovation Works With Matos Construction

  1. Initial consultation and site visit

Leo reviews the existing kitchen, discusses scope, and identifies structural considerations.

  2. Proposal and material selection

You receive a line-item written proposal. Material selections (cabinetry, countertops, tile) are finalized before any demolition begins.

  3. Demolition and rough work

Existing fixtures are removed, and any plumbing or electrical rough-in work is completed by licensed subcontractors.

  4. Carpentry and installation

Cabinetry goes in, custom millwork details are built, and the finish carpentry is completed, with Leo checking the work as it goes.

  5. Final finishes and punch list

Countertops, backsplash, paint, and hardware are installed. Leo walks the completed kitchen with you before the project closes.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Kitchen Remodeling FAQs

  1. How long does a kitchen remodel take in Northern Virginia or Maryland?

A full kitchen gut renovation typically takes 8–14 weeks from demolition to final punch list, depending on scope and material lead times. Custom cabinetry is usually the longest lead item — most cabinet manufacturers run 4–6 weeks from order to delivery. We sequence the project around that lead time so the rest of the work is ready when cabinets arrive.

  2. Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel in Virginia or Maryland?

Yes, in most cases. Any kitchen remodel that involves moving plumbing, electrical work, or structural changes requires a permit in both Virginia and Maryland jurisdictions. Cosmetic work — replacing countertops, appliances, or cabinet faces without moving anything — typically does not. Matos Construction handles permit applications for all permitted scopes.

  3. What does a kitchen remodel cost in McLean, Bethesda, or Great Falls?

It comes down to layout complexity, cabinetry scope, and finish selections, and those swing widely enough that a number quoted before seeing the kitchen is not worth much to you. Leo walks the space, measures, and puts together a detailed line-item proposal so you can see exactly what you are paying for, with no allowances buried in lump sums. The estimate is free.

  4. Do you handle the full kitchen remodel or just the carpentry?

Full scope. We manage the entire project — demolition, plumbing and electrical coordination with licensed subcontractors, cabinetry, tile, finish carpentry, paint, and final hardware. Leo manages the schedule and holds every trade to the same quality standard as his own crew.
