Tell us about your Hamilton project
Takes about a minute. Leo replies within one business day.
Hamilton is a small town between Leesburg and Purcellville, and its size is exactly why the work here has to be done carefully. Much of the housing predates anything resembling a standard stud spacing. Walls are out of plumb, floors slope, and the trim profiles were milled for that house rather than ordered from a catalog. A cabinet run built to nominal dimensions will not fit, and it will show.
Matos Construction does custom cabinetry, finish carpentry, and home renovations for Hamilton homeowners. On the older houses that means scribing to what is actually there. On the newer homes on the edges of town it means upgrading finishes that were chosen to hit a builder price point.
Custom Cabinetry & Built-Ins
Bookcases, window seats, fireplace surrounds, and storage built into the house. In a Hamilton home this almost always means building to the room rather than to a standard box, because the room will not cooperate with a standard box.

Casing, base, crown, wainscoting, stairs, and railings. Matching an original profile in an older Hamilton house is routine work for us, including building up a profile when the original is no longer sold.

Kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and larger scopes. We plan around what an older house actually gives us rather than what the drawing assumes, which is usually the difference between a schedule that holds and one that does not.

Older Houses Need a Different Approach
The mistake people make in a town like Hamilton is treating an older home like new construction with worse tolerances. It is not. The house has moved, settled, and been altered, often more than once, and the right approach is to measure what is in front of you and build to that.
That is slower than installing stock cabinetry, and we say so up front rather than discovering it halfway through. It is also the reason the finished work looks like it belongs to the house instead of sitting inside it.
We are based in Leesburg, a few minutes up the road, so getting out to Hamilton for a measurement, a delivery, or a day of punch list work is straightforward. Every job gets a written line-item estimate before anything starts.
Hamilton Renovation Questions
- Do you work on older homes in Hamilton?
- Yes, and it is a good part of what we do out here. Older houses need scribing, custom profiles, and a willingness to adjust on site. We plan for that rather than treating it as a surprise.
- My trim is not a profile anyone sells anymore. Can you match it?
- Usually. We measure the existing profile and either find the closest stock match or build the profile up from several pieces so it reads correctly from inside the room. Where an exact match is not achievable we will tell you before the work starts.
- Is Hamilton too small a job for you?
- No. We take single-room built-ins and trim work as readily as full renovations, and being close by means a smaller project is still worth doing properly rather than squeezing in.
- How do you handle pricing?
- We come out, measure, and give you one written number with the line items shown. We do not quote over the phone, because on an older house the number would change once we saw the room. The estimate is free.
